iDM Bus Analysis and Troubleshooting Software

This manual provides a step-by-step guide to using the iDM Bus Analysis software for diagnosing and resolving communication issues in the iNELS BUS system. This tool enables efficient troubleshooting of BUS wiring and connected devices.

Purpose

The iDM Bus Analysis software is designed to:

  • Monitor BUS communication.

  • Log events and errors in the BUS.

  • Identify and resolve wiring and device-related issues.

  • Facilitate faster resolution of communication troubles by generating logs for technical support.

Requirements

  1. Hardware: A dedicated analyser Central Unit (miniCU-CU3-07M, CU3-08M, CU3-09M or CU3-10M).

  2. Software: BUS Analyser Software installed on a PC.

  3. Network: The analyser miniCU should be connected to the BUS network.

Steps for Using the BUS Analyser

1. Preparation

  1. Identify the problematic BUS line in the system.

  2. Connect the analyser miniCU to the BUS line.

  3. Ensure the analyser miniCU is powered and connected to the same network as your PC.

2. Install and Configure the BUS Analyser Software

  1. Install the BUS Analyser Software on your PC.

  2. Launch the software and enter the following details:

    • IP Address of the analyser miniCU.

    • Device Address of the analyser miniCU.

  3. Connect the software to the analyser miniCU.

3. Load Project Configuration

  1. Load the project configuration of the BUS line into the analyser software.

  2. Ensure all relevant devices and configurations are correctly loaded for accurate monitoring.

4. Update Firmware for Analysis

  1. Use the BUS Analyser Software to update the firmware of the connected miniCU to the BUS analyser firmware.

  2. Confirm the firmware update process is completed successfully.

5. Start Monitoring

  1. Initiate BUS monitoring by clicking the Start Monitoring button in the software.

  2. The software will:

    • Log all communication on the BUS.

    • Capture errors, delays, and device interactions.

    • Display real-time BUS activity.

6. Export Log File

  1. Once monitoring is complete, export the log file using the Export Log option.

  2. Save the file to a secure location and review it for preliminary analysis.

  3. Share the log file with the iNELS support team for a detailed investigation.

Reverting the Analyser CU to Standard Operation

  1. Use the BUS Analyser Software to revert the analyser miniCU to its original firmware.

  2. Confirm that the CU firmware rollback is successful.

  3. Disconnect the analyser miniCU from the BUS line and reintroduce it to the system for normal operation.

Troubleshooting Tips

  • Connection Issues: Ensure the analyser miniCU is powered and the IP/device address entered in the software matches the CU configuration.

  • Firmware Errors: Verify the firmware file is compatible with the analyser miniCU model.

  • Log File Missing Details: Confirm the project configuration loaded into the analyser software matches the BUS line setup.

Support and Assistance

For any issues, contact the iNELS support team and provide the exported log file for further analysis. Ensure the log file contains a detailed record of BUS communication during the issue.

By following this manual, you can effectively identify and resolve BUS-related issues in the iNELS system.
