# RFWD-100

RFWD-100 window and door detector (magnet and sensor) - battery, DIP switches, pairing, LED, clearing, specs.

*Part 3 — Unit reference · Detectors.*

A small battery-powered detector for windows and doors. It has two parts: the **detector** and a **magnetic module** (the magnet). When the magnet moves away from the detector — the window or door opens — the detector sends a command. It does not switch anything itself: a receiver (for example a switch unit that turns on the light in a cellar or garage) does that. The detector is paired with the receiver **exactly like a wall button**, but instead of pressing a button you **insert the battery**.

## Where are the battery and the DIP switches

There is **no pairing button**. The detector sends its pairing signal when the **battery goes in**.

1. Push a screwdriver into the opening at the top of the detector and open the cover.
2. The battery holder and the **two DIP switches** are inside.
3. The magnetic module opens the same way (screwdriver in the opening at the top); it only holds the magnet.

Place the detector on the fixed part and the magnet on the moving leaf of the window or door (the manual suggests the bottom of the window, so you can still use the ventilation position). Test the positions **before** you fix them: the detector and the magnet must stay within the sensing distance when the window or door is closed. Ask the window or door maker which adhesive suits the frame. For indoor use only.

## DIP switches — set them BEFORE pairing

{% hint style="warning" %}
**Set the DIP switches before you pair, while the battery is out.** The detector reads them when the battery goes in. Any change of the DIP setting must be saved — so after a later change take the battery out, wait 30 seconds and put it back.
{% endhint %}

| Switch                                | OFF                                                                                                | ON                                                                                                                                                            |
| ------------------------------------- | -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **DIP1** — which movement triggers it | **Normal.** The detector triggers when the magnet moves **away** (window or door **opens**). | **Inverse.** The detector triggers when the magnet **comes close** (window or door **closes**). |
| **DIP2** — connected to a system | The detector is **paired directly with a receiver**. It does not send periodic status information. | The detector is **connected to a system** (eLAN, RF Touch, iNELS central unit). It sends a message whenever the state changes and also **every 120 minutes**. |

### What “connected to a system” (DIP2) means

With DIP2 **OFF** the detector is paired with a compatible component and sends no periodic status; with DIP2 **ON** it is connected to the system and sends status on every change and every 120 minutes. To add it to a system component use the **address printed on the underside of the detector** (or at the bottom of the opened device). The steps in the gateway are on the [eLAN-204](/inels-home/inels-wireless/devices/system-units/elan-204.md) pages.

## Pairing with a receiver

Before you start: the receiver is powered and you know its PROG times — [Appendix A](/inels-home/inels-wireless/appendix-a-prog-button-times.md). General rules for detectors: [Pairing reference § D](/inels-home/inels-wireless/pairing-and-configuration.md).

{% hint style="danger" %}
**The 30-second rule.** After taking the battery out, **wait at least 30 seconds before putting it back**.
{% endhint %}

There are two functions. Choose one **before** you start.

|                                         | What the receiver does                                                                                                |
| --------------------------------------- | --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **A. Immediate response (ON/OFF)** | The receiver's output switches **on** when the detector is activated and **off** when it is deactivated. |
| **B. Delayed return with time setting** | The output switches **on** when the detector is activated and opens again after **the time you set** (2 s to 60 min). |

### A. Immediate response

{% stepper %}
{% step %}

### Set the DIP switches

Battery **out**. Set DIP1 and DIP2.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Put the receiver into programming mode

Hold **PROG** on the receiver for its *enter programming* time ([Appendix A](/inels-home/inels-wireless/appendix-a-prog-button-times.md)). The LED flashes once per second.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Insert the battery

Push the battery into the holder — watch the polarity. The **red LED on the detector blinks** and the **LED on the receiver blinks faster**: the detector is assigned.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Finish

Short press **PROG** on the receiver (under 1 s). Its LED goes off.
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

### B. Delayed return with time setting

{% stepper %}
{% step %}

### Set the DIP switches and open programming

Battery **out**. Set DIP1 and DIP2. Put the receiver into programming mode (LED flashes once per second).
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Insert the battery

Red LED on the detector blinks; the receiver LED blinks faster.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Take the battery out and put it back after 30 s

Red LED on the detector blinks again; the receiver LED blinks faster.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Take the battery out again, wait 30 s, then start the timer

Hold **PROG on the receiver for more than 5 s**. The receiver is in timing mode — its LED flashes **twice per second**. The time starts counting when you **release** PROG.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Wait for the time you want (2 s to 60 min), then insert the battery

![Wait](https://2503278529-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FkoLW6hWCvDgagoswDVfD%2Fuploads%2FqKphDjGCDsV2R207DrBN%2Ftiming-wait.png?alt=media)

Inserting the battery ends the timer mode and **stores the time**. The red LED on the detector blinks and the receiver LED blinks.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Finish

Short press **PROG** on the receiver (under 1 s). Its LED goes off.
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

{% hint style="info" %}
Hold PROG on the receiver for the time of **your receiver** from [Appendix A](/inels-home/inels-wireless/appendix-a-prog-button-times.md). Leave **1 s between** commands and keep at least 1 cm between units.
{% endhint %}

The detector can also be taught to a repeater (RFRP-20); the steps are the same as on the [RFMD-100 / RFMD-200](/inels-home/inels-wireless/devices/transmitters/detectors/rfmd-100-rfmd-200.md) page.

## Compatible receivers

The detector can be assigned only to components with the **RFIO2** protocol: all switching components marked RFIO2 and the eLAN-RF system components. These include eLAN-RF-003 and eLAN-RF-Wi-003 (control units); RFSA-61B, RFSA-62B, RFSAI-61B, RFSA-61M, RFSA-66M, RFSC-61, RFUS-61 (switches).

## Radio range

See [How programming works § Range](/inels-home/inels-wireless/how-programming-works.md) for the radio range and the general rules. The detector has no repeater function.

## Removing the pairing

The pairing is stored **in the receiver**. Use the receiver's PROG button — times in [Appendix A](/inels-home/inels-wireless/appendix-a-prog-button-times.md) — and the steps of [Pairing reference § C](/inels-home/inels-wireless/pairing-and-configuration.md): once the receiver is in clear mode (LED 4× per second), the detector has to send its signal, in the same way as when pairing.

## Replacing the battery

Open the cover with a screwdriver, take the old battery out and push a new CR2032 in (polarity). The red LED on the detector blinks.

## Troubleshooting

| Symptom                                                        | Fix                                                                                                                                                                              |
| -------------------------------------------------------------- | -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Receiver LED does not blink faster when you insert the battery | You were quicker than 30 s after taking it out — take it out, wait 30 s, insert again. Check the polarity and that the receiver is in programming mode. |
| Light switches on when the window **closes** | DIP1 is ON (inverse). Set it OFF with the battery out, then pair again. |
| Detector reports too late or not at all | Check the distance between magnet and detector with the window closed. Test the positions before fixing; use the 5-minute test phase (red LED blinks at each magnet connection). |
| No periodic status in the gateway | DIP2 must be ON and the detector added with its printed address. |
| Works close by, not in place | Range — see [How programming works § Range](/inels-home/inels-wireless/how-programming-works.md). |
