# RFSF-100

RFSF-100 flood detector - what it detects, battery, DIP switches, pairing by counting battery insertions, LED and sound, specs.

*Part 3 — Unit reference · Detectors.*

A battery-powered flood detector. When water reaches the two metal contacts on its underside it sends a command at once, and it also warns on the spot with a light, a sound and a vibration. The paired receiver can then act — for example close a water valve, switch on a pump or a GSM gate. The detector does not switch anything itself.

{% hint style="info" %}
**This detector is paired a little differently from the others.** You do not press a button on the detector. You **take out one battery and put it back as many times as the function number** (1× to 6×). Everything else is the same as pairing a wall button.
{% endhint %}

## Where to put it

Put the detector on a flat, **non-conductive** surface where flooding is expected, **contacts facing down**, and lay it loose. Choose a place where you can see it. It detects only liquid that has **reached the contacts**. For indoor use only.

**Liquids it can detect** (resistivity in kΩ·cm): drinking water 5–10 · well water 2–5 · river water 2–15 · rain water 15–25 · waste water 0.5–2 · sea water \~0.03 · salt water \~2.2 · hard water \~5 · chlorinated water \~5 · condensed water \~18 · milk, whey, juices, broth \~1 · wine, beer, coffee \~2.2 · soap foam \~18.

**Liquids it does NOT detect:** demineralised and deionised water, gasoline, oil, liquid gases, paraffin, ethylene glycol, paints, bourbon and other liquids with a lot of alcohol.

## Where are the battery and the DIP switches

There is **no pairing button**. Open the detector with a screwdriver — the battery holders, the **three DIP switches** and the contacts are inside. Take the insulating foil out before first use. The cover has a seal — put it back when you close the detector, and tighten the screws to keep the IP protection.

## DIP switches — set them BEFORE pairing

{% hint style="warning" %}
**Set the DIP switches first, then insert the batteries.** The detector saves the DIP switches when the batteries go in: the **blue LED lights for 2 seconds**. If you change a DIP switch later, take the batteries out and put them in again.
{% endhint %}

| Switch                           | OFF                                                                                | ON                                                                                                                                                                                            |
| -------------------------------- | ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **DIP1** — normal or negated | **Normal.** On flooding the output (relay) of the paired receiver **switches on**. | **Negated.** On flooding the receiver's output **opens**; when the flooding ends it closes again. |
| **DIP2** — connected to a system | For pairing with a **switching unit**. No periodic status message. | For pairing with a **system component** (eLAN-RF, RF Touch, iNELS control panel). The detector sends a status message **every 120 minutes** and on every change (flooding / end of flooding). |
| **DIP3** — sound | Sound **off** when contacts are flooded (light only) | Sound **on** when contacts are flooded |

**If the blue LED does not light** after you insert the batteries, reset the detector: take the batteries out, connect the insides of the two battery holders with a little pressure (picture 3 in the manual), then insert the batteries again.

### What “connected to a system” (DIP2) means

DIP2 ON is for pairing with a system component (eLAN-RF, RF Touch, iNELS control panel), and the detector then sends its status every 120 minutes and when the state changes. To program the detector into those system components use the **address printed on the back of the detector**. The steps in the gateway are on the [eLAN-204](/inels-home/inels-wireless/devices/system-units/elan-204.md) pages.

## Pairing with a receiver

Before you start: the receiver is powered and you know its PROG times — [Appendix A](/inels-home/inels-wireless/appendix-a-prog-button-times.md). The function number is chosen like on a wall button — see [Appendix B](/inels-home/inels-wireless/appendix-b-functions-by-number-of-presses.md) (1× pushbutton, 2× switch on, 3× switch off, 4× impulse relay, 5× delayed off, 6× delayed on). General rules for detectors: [Pairing reference § D](/inels-home/inels-wireless/pairing-and-configuration.md).

There are two ways, as with the other detectors:

| | Function number | What the receiver does |
| ----------------------------------------- | --------------- | --------------------------------------------------------- |
| **A. Immediate response**                 | 1 to 4          | Acts as soon as the detector sends.                       |
| **B. Delayed return with a time you set** | 5 or 6 | Acts, and returns after the time you set (2 s to 60 min). |

{% stepper %}
{% step %}

### Set the DIP switches

Set them as you want them (see above), batteries **out**.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Put the receiver into programming mode

Hold **PROG** on the receiver for its *enter programming* time ([Appendix A](/inels-home/inels-wireless/appendix-a-prog-button-times.md)). The LED flashes once per second.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Open the detector and take out one battery

Use a screwdriver to open the cover. Take **one** of the batteries out of the holders.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Choose the function: insert and remove the battery

Put the battery in and take it out **as many times as the function number** — 1× for function 1, 2× for function 2, and so on. **Every insertion must be answered by a flash of the blue LED**. Leave **1 second** between two insertions.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Only for functions 5 and 6 — set the time

Hold **PROG on the receiver for more than 5 s**. The receiver is in timing mode — its LED flashes **twice per second**. The time starts counting when you **release** PROG. Wait for the time you want (2 s to 60 min).

{% hint style="info" %}
How the timing is ended and the time stored is shown in the pictures of the [instruction manual (PDF)](https://www.elkoep.com/media/import/Elko/RFx/RFSF-100/EN/Manual_RFSF-100.pdf).
{% endhint %}
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Finish

Short press **PROG** on the receiver (under 1 s). Its LED goes off. Close the detector, with the seal in place, and tighten the screws.
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

## Compatible receivers

All switching units of the RF Control system (except shutter units) that are marked RFIO2 — for example RFSA-11B, RFSA-61M, RFSA-66M, RFUS-61, RFSC-61. System components: eLAN-RF, RF Touch, iNELS BUS central units (CU3-0xM).

## Radio range

Up to **160 m in open space**. If the signal between the detector and the receiver is weak, use a repeater RFRP-20 or an RFIO2 unit that has the repeater function. The detector itself has no repeater function. More: [How programming works § Range](/inels-home/inels-wireless/how-programming-works.md).

## Removing the pairing

The pairing is stored **in the receiver**. Use the receiver's PROG button — times in [Appendix A](/inels-home/inels-wireless/appendix-a-prog-button-times.md) — and the steps of [Pairing reference § C](/inels-home/inels-wireless/pairing-and-configuration.md): once the receiver is in clear mode (LED 4× per second), the detector has to send its signal, in the same way as when pairing.

| -------------------------------------------------------------------- | --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Blue LED does not light when you insert the batteries | Reset: remove the batteries, press the insides of the battery holders together lightly, insert the batteries again. Check the polarity. |
| The receiver does the opposite (closes when dry, opens when flooded) | DIP1 is ON (negated). Set it OFF, batteries out and in. |
| No sound                                                             | DIP3 is OFF.                                                                                                                            |
| Alarm does not stop | The contacts are still wet — the alarm ends a few seconds after the connection of the contacts is interrupted. |
| Wrong function | Clear the button on the receiver and pair again; count the insertions carefully with 1 s between them. |
| Works close by, not in place | Range — see above. |
