# eLAN-103

eLAN-RF-103 and eLAN-RF-Wi-103 — the smart RF gateway with a network cable that connects iNELS Wireless units to the app, the web interface and the cloud.

*Part 3 — Unit reference · System units.*

The **eLAN-103** (full name **eLAN-RF-103**, also called the *Smart RF box*) is a **gateway**. It sits on your home network and talks by radio to your iNELS Wireless units. That lets you control them from the **iNELS app** and voice assistants, see their state, and run **scenes, time schedules and heating programs**.

Units you have already paired by hand keep working on their own. The gateway adds the app and the automation on top. See [Transmitters, receivers and gateways](/inels-home/inels-wireless/transmitters-receivers-and-gateways.md).

## What it does

* Sends and receives commands for up to **70 units** and runs the programs you set for automatic control. You can start with one unit and add more later.
* Because the radio link is **two-way**, it shows the current state of each unit.
* The iNELS app can: regulate hot water or electric underfloor heating · measure temperature with wireless sensors · switch appliances (garage doors, blinds, fan, irrigation, sockets) · dim lights · switch by time (for example delayed light-off when you leave a room) · remote control · scenes (one press runs several commands).
* Works with the voice assistants Google Home and Amazon Alexa.

{% hint style="info" %}
The **RFRP-20N repeater** can extend the radio range of both gateways — see [RFRP-20N repeater](/inels-home/inels-wireless/devices/system-units/rfrp-20n-repeater.md).
{% endhint %}

## First start

{% stepper %}
{% step %}

### Connect power and network

Connect the eLAN-RF-103 to the power adapter and, with an Ethernet cable, to your router. The router gives the eLAN an IP address. By default the eLAN is set to get its address automatically (DHCP).
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Find it

In the iNELS app open the account / gateway administration menu and press **+**. The app searches your network and lists the eLAN-RF-103 it finds, with its IP address. Your phone must be on the same home network. You can also use the **ELKO Finder** program (on the product page).
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Open the web interface

Type the IP address in the address bar of a web browser. The login page opens. Factory login: name **admin**, password **elkoep**.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Set it up

You can log in as **Administrator** (all rights), **Owner** (limited rights for setting and control) or **User** (control only). Cloud connection is set up with the app.
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

{% hint style="warning" %}
Change the factory login after the first start. The same default password is published in the manual.
{% endhint %}

## Adding your units

How to put receivers and transmitters on the gateway is on one page for all gateways: [Adding paired devices to a gateway](/inels-home/inels-wireless/devices/system-units/adding-paired-devices-to-a-gateway.md). The eLAN-103 is configured in the iNELS app.

## Web interface

| Overview, Logging | For service. Logging saves a record of events that you can download or delete |
| Settings → Device | Change the name of the device and choose the radio frequency |
| Settings → Account | Change login name and password |
| Settings → Network | DHCP or static IP address; date and time (read from an SNTP server by default; manual setting possible); time zone; automatic summer / winter time |
| Settings → Cloud | Switch the cloud connection on or off and see its status. The cloud is set up with the app |
| Configuration backup | Create a backup in the eLAN memory, download it to your computer, restore it from memory or from a file |
| FW update | Load new firmware: pick the downloaded file (it must end in .efw) and press Update |

After a firmware update the eLAN restarts and keeps your settings (IP address, login data, visualisation panel). **Do not switch it off or press Reset during the update.**

## Reset button

| Hold the button on the front panel | What happens |
| ---------------------------------- | ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Short press | The eLAN restarts |
| More than 5 s                      | Network settings are reset                                                                                             |
| About 10 s | Complete reset to factory settings. IP address and login are reset, and the eLAN goes back to automatic address (DHCP) |

## LED reference

| LED               | Meaning                   |
| ----------------- | ------------------------- |
| STATUS — green    | Normal mode               |
| STATUS — orange   | Start-up / initialisation |
| STATUS — red      | Error                     |
| RF (green)        | Radio communication       |
| Ethernet — green  | Operating status          |
| Ethernet — yellow | Communication             |

## Placing it

* Keep at least **1 cm** between the gateway and the units it controls.
* If the eLAN sits in a **metal switchboard**, use the external AN-E antenna for a better signal (tightening torque of the antenna connector: max. 0.56 Nm).
* If the signal between the eLAN and a unit is weak, use the **RFRP-20 / RFRP-20N** repeater.

## Troubleshooting

| Symptom                             | What to do                                                                                                      |
| ----------------------------------- | --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| The app does not find the eLAN | The phone must be on the same home network as the eLAN. Try the ELKO Finder program |
| You do not know the IP address | The app lists it when you search (+ in the gateway menu), or use ELKO Finder |
| Login or address is wrong or lost | Hold Reset for about 10 s — IP address and login return to factory settings |
| A unit is not reached from the eLAN | Check the distance (open space up to 100 m), use the external antenna in a metal switchboard, or add a repeater |
