# Adding paired devices to a gateway

How a unit that you already paired by hand is added to a gateway (eLAN-204, eLAN-103, RF Touch-2, RFTC-3) so that you can use it from the app and in automations.

*Part 3 — Unit reference · System units.*

A receiver that you paired by hand with a button works on its own. To use it also from the **app** or the **cloud**, or in **scenes, time schedules and automations**, you add it to a **gateway** as well. You do this on the gateway — in its web interface or in the app — not on the unit.

## Before you start

1. **Pair by hand first** if the unit should also work without the gateway — see the [Pairing reference](/inels-home/inels-wireless/pairing-and-configuration.md).
2. **The gateway works.** For the eLAN-204 do [First Start](/inels-home/inels-wireless/devices/system-units/elan-204/first-start.md). For the eLAN-103 see [eLAN-103](/inels-home/inels-wireless/devices/system-units/elan-103.md). For RF Touch-2 see [RF Touch-2](/inels-home/inels-wireless/devices/system-units/rf-touch-2.md).
3. **You know the model name** of the unit and **its address** (next section).

## The address of the unit

The gateway asks for the unit's RF address. Where to find it:

| Unit | Where to find the address |
| ------------------------------------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Receivers, for example RFSAI-xxB-SL | Printed on the **front side** of the unit. A unit with several outputs has one address per output |
| Detectors, for example RFMD, RFWD | Printed on the underside of the detector, or, on the opened detector, in the upper left part |
| Wall controllers, key fobs and other transmitters | Printed on the unit and given in its instruction manual |
| Unit added to an eLAN | The address shown on the device |
| Unit added to RF Touch-2 | An **8-digit number** printed on the device body |
| Unit added to the older eLAN-RF-003 | A **six-character code** on the unit |
| RFATV-2 thermovalve | **QR code** (scan it in the app) or the RF address (type it in the menu of the system unit) |

## Adding a unit to an eLAN-204

{% stepper %}
{% step %}

### Open the web interface

Open the eLAN-204 web interface in a browser — see [How to Use eLAN-RF-204](/inels-home/inels-wireless/devices/system-units/elan-204/how-to-use-elan-rf-204.md). Before the eLAN is on your home network the address is 192.168.1.1. Afterwards use its IP address or **elan.local**.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Open the Devices tab and press ADD device

The **Devices** tab manages the connected RF units and sensors. Press **ADD device**. All tabs are described in [Web Interface – Tabs Description](/inels-home/inels-wireless/devices/system-units/elan-204/web-interface-tabs-description.md).
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Choose the model

Select the model of the unit **from the list**.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Enter the address, an icon and a name

Type the **RF address** shown on the device (printed on the unit or given in its manual). Choose an **icon** and give the unit a **name** (for example Kitchen light). Confirm the entry.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Put it in a room

Open the **Rooms** tab and add the device to a room with the **+** button from the device list.
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

To change the icon or name, or to remove a unit, use the **Devices** tab again.

{% hint style="warning" %}
**Put every unit in a room.** Elements that are **not saved in rooms are not synced to the cloud** and cannot be controlled remotely.
{% endhint %}

| **eLAN-103** | The eLAN-103 is configured in the iNELS app. The web interface is used for settings, the configuration backup and the firmware update. On the older **eLAN-RF-003** the Devices screen has a **+**: choose the product type, enter the address, give a label, choose an icon type, then press Create. Rooms and scenes can be made once units are added |
| **RF Touch-2** | In the **Devices** menu press **+**. Enter the name, the address (8-digit number on the device), choose the device type (for example RFSAI-61B-SL) and an icon, press **SAVE**. To enter the manual settings you need the PIN. You can also do everything in the iNELS app and the changes appear on the unit |
| **RFTC-3** | The [**Periphery**](/inels-home/inels-wireless/devices/inels-wireless-heating-temperature-control/thermostats/rftc-3/periphery-page.md) tab takes the **RF addresses** of connected RF units (window and door contacts, motion sensors, glass controllers, outside temperature sensor, external relay RFSAxx). In [**Automations → Devices**](/inels-home/inels-wireless/devices/inels-wireless-heating-temperature-control/thermostats/rftc-3/automations-page.md) you add the RF units that the rules use. In **Service → eLAN**, *Save Devices to eLAN* moves the units added in Automations into the eLAN configuration |

## What you can do after adding

On the eLAN-204:

* **See the state** of each unit — the radio link is two-way.
* **Control** it from the web interface, the app, and remotely through the cloud (inels.cloud or the app).
* **Rooms** — group units by room.
* **Scenes** — one command or button press runs several actions (for example Leaving Home, Evening).
* **Time Schedule** — switch units or scenes at exact times or by a weekly plan.
* **Heating/Cooling** — temperature plans, heating circuits and central sources.
* **Automations** — conditions that the gateway watches (for example a temperature change or a button press) switch one or several units.
